A Sunset Beach-side villa setting
Sawan Resort, also listed as Sawan Sunset Resort, is at 376 Moo 7, Sunset Street, Koh Lipe, on the Sunset Beach side of the island. Tripadvisor’s property description identifies five standalone Thai-style villas. The hillside and beach setting, with sea-facing balconies, is the clearest reason to compare it closely.
Named accommodation includes Thai House Sea View, Ocean View and Beachfront King. Those categories should not be treated as interchangeable. Confirm the actual villa’s position and access route, especially if steps or slopes would affect the stay.
View praise alongside a longer-stay complaint
Amelia’s Agoda review dated 27 April 2023, after a January Ocean View stay, praised the outlook and welcoming staff. Nurul, reviewing on 19 February 2023 after a December 2022 visit, also liked the view and friendly people but said the water heater needed repair.
A Thai House Sea View guest’s 11 September 2023 review described seventeen nights in December 2022, reporting kitchen noise, an old bathroom, damaged timber flooring, mosquitoes and traces of rodents. That is a specific historical account, not a finding about all villas. Lisa N’s March 2017 Tripadvisor review after a February stay had instead described a clean, well-equipped villa and helpful service.
Ask about the villa being offered now
The contrasting reports make current condition and room position important. Establish hot-water provision, access and the villa’s relationship to dining or kitchen activity. Sawan’s views are a meaningful attraction, but the actual accommodation should support the length and comfort requirements of the stay rather than the view settling the decision alone.
