Fifteen rooms looking toward the sea
The Houben is an adults-only boutique hotel near Kantiang village on Koh Lanta. Its official overview identifies fifteen rooms, divided between Superior, Deluxe and Privilege Suite categories, each with a private sea-facing balcony. The appeal is concentrated on that small scale and elevated coastal outlook.
The categories should not be treated as interchangeable. Expedia lists a Deluxe Sea View option at 49 square metres, while the Privilege Suite is separately named. Features shown in a suite photograph should not automatically be expected in a Superior or Deluxe booking.
A cliff view comes with stairs
Rosanna, staying in November 2025, described a quiet hotel with wonderful ocean views but emphasised the number of stairs and the absence of direct beach access. The village and beach were reachable on foot, with the beach walk downhill.
The difference matters for everyday use: looking over the sea from the hotel is distinct from stepping straight onto sand. The listed outdoor pool and Red Alert Restaurant provide places to spend time on the property. Spa facilities are also advertised.

Hospitality and upkeep receive mixed comments
Michael’s March 2025 account praised accommodating staff and the views, while finding drinks from the bar slow to arrive. Joe, returning in January 2025, enjoyed service, breakfast and the pool but felt gym equipment needed repair and some rooms repainting.
Peter’s July 2025 visit overlapped renovation work. The guest still enjoyed the friendly atmosphere but found breakfast inconsistent and small amenity details overlooked. These are dated experiences rather than proof of present construction or equipment condition. Together they show why the impressive setting and personal service should be considered alongside practical room and facility upkeep.
