The Racha Phuket Resort: island villas where category and boat timing matter

Compare paired Deluxe accommodation with private-pool villas, then organise the crossing to Koh Racha Yai around the stay.

An offshore resort, not a Chalong address

The Racha occupies Batok Bay on Koh Racha Yai, offshore from Phuket. Its Chalong Lounge is the mainland arrival point, not the resort itself. The official villa overview describes 85 villas across twenty acres and eight categories. Choosing this hotel therefore involves both an island crossing and a more specific accommodation decision than a general villa label.

The range extends from a paired Deluxe pavilion to larger pool suites and The Lighthouse. The overview lists the standalone Grand Deluxe at 54 square metres, Junior Pool Suite at 86, Grand Pool Suite at 93 with a 35-square-metre pool, Two-Bedroom Grand Pool Suite at 105 for up to four, and The Lighthouse at 150 for up to six. Check occupancy and bedroom arrangements for the actual group rather than compare these categories by size alone.

The Deluxe does not have a private pool

The official Deluxe Villa page gives 43 square metres excluding the terrace, with a maximum of two guests. Villas sit in pairs sharing a detached pavilion; some connect internally. Private terraces overlook gardens or a pool, which is an outlook rather than a promise of a private pool attached to the villa.

Air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a safe, espresso and tea facilities, and a chargeable minibar are listed. The bathroom has an indoor shower and bathtub as well as an outdoor rain shower, with daybeds inside and outside. This category makes sense when the terrace and resort facilities matter more than private swimming space. Confirm the available unit’s outlook and any connecting door when privacy or sound separation is important.

The Grand Deluxe Pool makes swimming private

The Grand Deluxe Pool Villa has 54 square metres excluding its pool and terrace, again for up to two guests. The official description adds a private outdoor ozonated pool and sea views to a layout similar to the Grand Deluxe. It retains indoor bathing facilities and an outdoor rain shower.

The distinction is concrete: the extra price buys a different outdoor routine, not simply eleven more interior square metres than the Deluxe. If you expect to spend long periods at the villa, private pool access may be valuable. If most days will be occupied by beach outings or excursions, compare how often that facility will actually be used.

Arrange the crossing before the flight connection

The official transfer page asks guests to reserve boat seats at least 24 hours ahead. Schedules depend on availability, weather and sea conditions, so confirm both the crossing and any inclusion with the booked rate. The Chalong Lounge lists drinks, light snacks, Wi-Fi and charging facilities, with a shuttle to the boat pier.

The published seasonal arrival arrangement uses Batok Bay’s jetty from November to May and a Ter Bay pontoon from June to October. Reconfirm the landing point and onward arrangements rather than assume arrival directly in front of the villa. Allow the flight and onward journey to fit the agreed boat plan.

The bay is shared, and experiences vary

The resort identifies Batok Bay as a public beach. A Trip.com Grand Deluxe Partial Sea View guest, reviewing on 1 October 2026 after an August stay, praised an upgraded, spacious, clean room, helpful staff and a peaceful beach. Sherry W, reviewing a Two-Bedroom Grand Pool Suite on 29 September after an August visit, instead reported crowding, older facilities, ants and cleaning issues.

Phuket101’s independent Junior Pool Suite stay describes separate living space with two sofas and television, a pool behind the suite, and a bedroom terrace. That separation can matter when one person wants to watch television while another rests. Compare the suite floor plan if different daily routines are a reason for paying for the larger category. It illustrates another layout rather than every room. Choose the accommodation around the intended villa routine, and accept that an island resort can share its daytime beach with visitors.
